Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban

First UK Edition, 7th Printing, Hardback, Signed by J. K. Rowling, Bloomsbury 1999

Offered here is a signed first UK edition, 7th printing of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, one of the most important and desirable titles in the series for collectors.

This particular book is signed by J.K. Rowling in blue ball point pen to the half title page. Signed copies of Prisoner of Azkaban are very scarce in any printing. She conducted fewer public signing events in 1999 compared with the previous year, as the Harry Potter phenomenon was rapidly starting to take off and she didn’t have to do as much promotional activity. Instead Bloomsbury started sending out signed bookplates to book stores to help promote the book which is what is more commonly found.

The book is unread, the boards are square with sharp corners and crisp page edges with no obvious toning. An exceptionally rare survival for early Harry Potter printings, which were produced on notoriously poor-quality paper stock.  The book is in near fine condition due to some very minor creasing to the top and bottom of the spine and some slight cracking at the gutter of the title page. Internally there are no ownership inscriptions or dog eared pages and the dust jacket itself is in fine condition protected in a removable Brodart archival dust jacket protector. The book comes in a custom made dark green clamshell box with purple inner trays and gold gilt lettering to the spine.

The signature comes fully authenticated by Adam Houston ‘The Harry Potter Specialist’ the world’s leading expert in authenticating Jo’s signature. It comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card.
