Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
First Canadian Edition, 6th Printing, Hardcover, Raincoast, Signed by J. K. Rowling, Fine Condition
This is a first Canadian edition, sixth printing (according to the copyright page) of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone signed by J. K. Rowling. A copy with the number line ending in ‘6’ is technically the fifth printing as there is no first Canadian edition with the number line ending in ‘1.’ Signed copies of the Canadian edition are not common as Rowling only made two short visits to Canada in 2000 and 2007 during the publication history of the Harry Potter series. The likely origin of this signature according to signature expert Adam Houston is that it is one of the copies which was signed backstage at the Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto in October 2007.
This is a stunning copy, exceptionally clean and clearly unread, with no internal markings, ownership inscriptions, dog-eared pages or other defects. The page edges show almost no toning, which is extremely rare for this title, and there is no colour fading to either the book or the dust jacket. The book and dust jacket are both in fine condition, making this a highly attractive collector’s copy. The book comes housed in a custom red cloth clamshell box with gold gilt lettering to the spine.
This copy comes fully authenticated by Adam Houston, The Harry Potter Specialist, widely regarded as the leading expert in authenticating J.K. Rowling signatures, and is accompanied by a full authentication package, including a letter of authenticity and collector card.
