Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

First UK Edition, First Printing, Bloomsbury 2000, Hardcover, Signed by J.K. Rowling with provenance

A stunning and highly desirable first edition, first printing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, signed in black pen by J. K. Rowling to the dedication page. This copy was signed on Tuesday 18th July 2000 at Borders Books, Brighton, forming part of the legendary Hogwarts Express Book Tour.

For the launch of the book in July 2000, J.K. Rowling embarked on a four day Hogwarts Express Book Tour, setting off in a red steam train from Kings Cross Station, visiting Oxford (Didcot), Manchester, York, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Perth. Rowling returned a few days later for signing events at Harrods (London), Hatchards (London), Borders Books (Brighton), Ottakers (Kent) and Books etc (London).

This copy is in fine condition, is unread with a square and tight binding, sharp corners and clean page edges with very little toning. The spine base and spine tip remain firm and internally, there are no ownership inscriptions, marks, tears, or dog-eared pages. The dust jacket is in fine condition with no colour fading and is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book comes housed a navy blue cloth clamshell box with red inner trays and gold gilt lettering to the spine for maximum protection.

This exceptional example is accompanied by its original Hogwarts Express golden ticket and handwritten letter from the original recipient, Hannah Steward, detailing her experience as a 16 year old attending the signing, meeting Rowling, and having the book signed, providing a compelling and personal record of the occasion. The signature has been fully authenticated by Adam Houston ‘The Harry Potter Specialist’, widely regarded as the leading authority on Rowling’s signature, and is supplied with a complete authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card.
