Offered here is a signed first UK edition, 19th printing of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, one of the most important and desirable titles in the series for collectors.
This particular book is signed by J.K. Rowling in black ink by J. K. Rowling at a charity event held at Caird Hall, Dundee, on 2nd June 2001 in support of Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres. The event attracted approximately 1,300 attendees and raised around £8,000 for the charity. Following a reading from Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire, Rowling signed books for those in attendance. The book was obtained by Rachael Howie, who has included a handwritten note detailing her experience of the event and a photocopy of a newspaper article detailing the event and confirming the above information.
The book looks to be unread, the boards are square without marks and the and the corners remain sharp and without creasing. Overall the book is in near fine condition due to some minor creasing to the top and bottom of the spine. Internally the book is clean with no ownership inscriptions or unwanted marks and very little toning to the pages which is exceptionally rare for these books. The dust jacket remains in fine condition and is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book comes in a custom made black clamshell box with purple inner trays and gold gilt lettering to the spine.
The signature comes fully authenticated by Adam Houston ‘The Harry Potter Specialist’ the world’s leading expert in authenticating Jo’s signature. It comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity, collector card, hand written note and newspaper article.
