The first stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child premiered at London’s Palace Theatre in 2016. The two-part stage production, written by British playwright Jack Thorne and directed by John Tiffany, was based on an original collaborative story developed by J.K. Rowling, Tiffany and Thorne. Following extraordinary global demand ahead of the premiere, it was announced that the script would be published in book form by Little, Brown on 31st July 2016, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after modern publications connected with the Harry Potter phenomenon.
Offered here is a first edition, first printing copy, signed by members of the original cast. The book was originally owned bye Andrew McDonald, a member of the original London company of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which opened at palace theatre, London in July 2016. Included in the sale is a handwritten note by Andrew detailing how he had this copy of the book signed backstage by fellow members of the original cast during his time with the production. Also included is an exceptionally rare copy of the original script. The first script book containing acts 1 & 2 whilst the second contains acts 3 & 4. This was Andrew’s personal copy and throughout the script, there are pencil annotations, highlighting of his lines, with mini post-it notes separating each scene. This really is an incredible opportunity to view and own an original script from the first theatre showing of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The book presents in fine condition. It remains unread, with a tight binding, square with sharp corners and clean page edges. The dust jacket is not price-clipped, shows no fading, and presents in excellent condition. Internally the book is immaculate, free from marks, ownership inscriptions, or dog-eared pages. Overall, this is a superb example, highly worthy of inclusion in any serious Harry Potter or modern first edition collection. The book comes protected in a custom black leather clamshell box with gold gilt lettering to the spine.
