The book presented here is the first state book of the first printing. There were said to be three states but third is now largely accepted to be the first Australian edition. This copy has the requisite dropped text on page 7 and Joanne Rowling listed on the copyright page and the complete number line 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1.
The book and dust jacket presented here are in extremely fine condition The book is unread, the binding is tight, the boards are square with sharp corners and the pages are a bright white, clean and free from any toning, creases, marks, ownership inscriptions or writing of any kind. There is no colour fading at all to the book or dust jacket which is incredibly rare. The dust jacket is unclipped and protected in mylar. The book comes housed in a dark green quarter leather clamshell box.
There are reported to be 5000 first printing copies across both states, however the exact split is not known. It is only known that there are far less first state copies that come to market. This is an extremely scarce book which is getting harder and harder to find in this incredible condition.
