Bloomsbury 1998 Gift Set, Signed by J.K. Rowling, Pristine Condition
Released in the run-up to Christmas 1998, this original Bloomsbury Harry Potter Gift Set contains a 4th printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and a 7th printing of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, housed in the original illustrated card slipcase. A small number of variant sets were issued with a 5th printing of Philosopher’s Stone and a 10th printing of Chamber of Secrets; however, this set conforms to the earlier and more desirable configuration.
A very limited number of these gift sets were signed by J.K. Rowling in blue ink on the front free endpapers as part of a seasonal promotion, making signed examples exceptionally scarce. Both volumes in this set are signed.
The books and their original dust jackets are in pristine, unread condition, with bright, clean pages. There are no ownership inscriptions, marks, or dog-eared pages. The bindings are tight, the boards square, and the corners sharp, with no foxing or colour fading present. The illustrated card slipcase is original and complete. The original retail price of £21.99 remains printed on the set.
Both signatures have been fully authenticated by Adam Houston, The Harry Potter Specialist, a leading authority on J.K. Rowling’s signature. The set is accompanied by a complete authentication package, including a signed letter of authenticity and collector card.
An exceptionally rare signed Harry Potter gift set, especially in such outstanding condition, this represents a highly desirable acquisition for collectors of UK first-edition and early-printing Harry Potter books.
