A rare and highly desirable signed copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, first U.S. edition, first printing, published by Scholastic in 2005. Signed by J.K. Rowling in bold black marker at the exclusive event “An Evening with Harry, Carrie and Garp”, held in New York City in 2006 and attended by Stephen King and John Irving.
This is an exceptionally rare signed copy of one of the most important volumes in the Harry Potter series. Signed American editions of Harry Potter books 4, 5, and 6 are notoriously difficult to obtain, and this event represents the only occasion on which J.K. Rowling signed copies of the U.S. edition of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Attendance was strictly limited to a small number of VIP “family packages,” priced at $1,000 each, which included premium orchestra seating and a set of three signed books, one from each participating author. As a result, authentic signed U.S. first printings of this title are extraordinarily scarce, with very few examples appearing on the open market.
Half-Blood Prince occupies a pivotal place within the series, revealing critical elements of Voldemort’s history and establishing the narrative framework for the final volume. The 2006 signing event itself is of notable historical importance, marking J.K. Rowling’s first U.S. signing appearance since 2000 and one of the last tightly controlled public signings of her career.
The book and original dust jacket are in pristine, unread condition, with no colour fading. The pages are clean and bright, free of ownership inscriptions, creases, or tears. The boards are square with sharp corners, the page edges are crisp and white, and there is no foxing to the text block. The book is housed in a bespoke blue clamshell box made specifically for this copy, with the title and author’s name printed in gold leaf on the leather spine.
