Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
First US Deluxe Edition, First Printing, Hardcover, Scholastic 2005, Bookplate Signed by J.K. Rowling, Pristine Condition
Published on 16 July 2005, to coincide with the worldwide release of the sixth volume in the series, the US Deluxe Edition of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was issued simultaneously with the standard trade edition. Conceived as a prestige format, it features an expanded and exclusive visual programme showcasing Mary GrandPré’s artwork, and is housed in the original publisher’s slipcase.
This copy bears an authentic J.K. Rowling signature on an official Scholastic Harry Potter scroll bookplate, affixed to the front pastedown. While earlier titles employed plain white generic bookplates, Scholastic transitioned in 1999 to the branded scroll-style bookplates. Based on all observed examples, the US Deluxe Edition of Half-Blood Prince is known to exist exclusively as bookplate-signed; no copies signed directly into the book have ever been recorded. This is confirmed by Adam Houston, The Harry Potter Specialist.
The book and dust jacket are in pristine, unread condition, with a tight, square binding, crisp white page edges, and no fading. Internally, the book is perfectly clean, with no ownership inscriptions, no dog-eared pages and no marks of any kind. The original slipcase is likewise in excellent condition. A true collector’s copy, carefully preserved for over twenty years.
This first printing is fully authenticated by Adam Houston, widely regarded as the leading authority on J.K. Rowling signatures, and is accompanied by a complete authentication package, including a letter of authenticity and collector card.
