This is a true first printing copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in paperback, of which there were 5150 copies printed. These were printed simultaneously with the 500 hardback copies, neither of which have bibliographic priority. All of the first printing points can be observed including the Wendy Cooling quote to the bottom of the front cover, the misspelled Philospher’s present to the rear cover along with the Wizardry and Witchcraft, rather than Witchcraft and Wizardry. The very well known error of 1 wand listed twice on page 53 along with the all important 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 number line listed on the copyright page and the missing space between Thomas Taylor1997.

This particular book is in fine condition, a stunning copy without colour fading. It is unread, there are no creases to the front or back cover and binding is extremely tight and square. There is some very minor marginal toning to the page edges, which is always the case with these early paperback books due to the cheap paper stock used when printing. There is some minor shelf wear to the corners and a thin crease that runs along the spine, but it is still one of the best copies to have ever come to market and certainly at the time of writing this, it appears to be the best copy available. Internally it is exceptionally clean, with no unwanted marks, no ownership inscriptions or dog earned pages – it is a true collector’s copy in beautiful near perfect condition, housed in a red, quarter leather Moroccan Solander box custom made by The Chelsea Bindery.
