Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
First Canadian Edition, First Printing, Hardback, J.K. Rowling, Raincoast, Fine
This may well be the rarest copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to exist. Based on consultations with the worlds most reputable Harry Potter collectors, this is thought to be one of only 10 copies to exist in collector’s hands and one of only a handful to ever appear for sale on the open market. This is a book that took Peter Kenneth ‘the Potter Collector’ 2 years to track down and add to his own collection.
The Canadian first edition is easy to recognise with its striking blue boards and silver gilt to the spine. Only the first printing and the first printing of the Canadian Chamber of Secrets share these blue boards. According to experts, it is well known that there are no copies with a numberline 10-1, and that the first printing of the Canadian Philosopher’s Stone actually has a number line 10-2. This particular copy is a gorgeous example of an incredibly rare book. With no colour fading to the spine of the dust jacket, it is not price clipped, and remains in remarkable condition. The book itself is in fine condition with no marks or scratches to the boards at all. The binding is still tight and square but there is some very minor bumping to the head of the spine, otherwise a near pristine copy. Internally there are no marks or ownership inscriptions of any kind.
A copy that all collectors should be proud to place in their collection.
